Do this!

Hey there, business owners! Last week we talked about your most important digital assets, which are your online reviews. You can read last week's newsletter here in case you missed it: https://doyousocial.beehiiv.com/p/important-digital-asset

This week I want to talk about a marketing strategy that will transform the way people see your business forever. It’s such a simple thing, but so many people are missing out on this.

Let me tell you what happened to me a few weeks ago.

I purchased a product online from a different company (not the usual giants like Amazon), and the overall shopping experience was good as you would expect in today’s digital world.

I enjoyed the product, all good, BUT after a few weeks I received a handwritten note from the founder of the company thanking me for the order and what it means to them that I’m supporting their small business.

My mind was blown!

I quickly thought about this and what it means to say thank you in a “human way” not via social media, email, or anything digital. It’s so personal to write a thank you note and mention the client's name and just remind them about you and your business.

Keep in mind that I could have bought this product from anywhere, and nobody would have sent me a thank you letter or anything like that.

I will forever remember this company as someone who cares and appreciates their customers, and that, my friends, is how you build a brand and stand out from the competition.

Do you know for sure if the founder really wrote the thank you letter?

No, but I still felt appreciated in so many ways!

You may think that this is “old school” and who sends thank you notes in 2024 when everything is digital?

This is exactly the reason why you should do it! We are flooded with notifications, emails, texts every single day and when something like this happens, it just pops out, and you will remember it 100%.

It’s incredible how such a simple thing can trigger such big emotions.

Action step:

How can you implement this in your business? Pretty straightforward if you ask me.

Do you sell a service? Simply write a note and thank the client for working with you and for appreciating your collaboration.

Do you sell a product? Send a handwritten note a few weeks after the initial order and thank them for supporting your business. Important: do not send them the note with the order, wait for a couple of weeks before you do and remind them about their order and thank them.

Brilliant, isn’t it?

This strategy can be applied to any type of business, including digital products or services.

Real estate? Thank the buyers or sellers for choosing you for their real estate needs.

Web design? Thank the client for choosing your business for their awesome project.

eCommerce? Thank the customer for supporting your business.

I’m 100% confident that this simple model can be applied to any business, and you know why? It’s because people want to feel appreciated, and they will never forget someone or something that made them feel good.

I hope that you will try this, especially if you are struggling with your competition.

Your customer will forever pick you over anyone else just because of that small thank you note.

Alright, next week I will share my thoughts on the big elephant in the room (AI) and how to use it properly for your business. You don’t want to be seen as a “soulless” business in the online world, do you? I will help you with that next week.

See you online,

Alex.
