Focus on This Instead
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes and 52 seconds
Hey friends, hope you are all having a great week so far.
Today, we will focus on a very interesting topic that too many business owners misunderstand.
They want to have big audiences across all social platforms, but the reality is different.
Let’s dive in.
Remember when everyone was crazy about getting 10,000 followers on Instagram?
Yeah, that doesn’t really work anymore.
Everyone wanted to post links on stories, and that feature was available only if you had 10,000 followers.
However, anyone can do this now, and guess what?
You still don’t get clients from your social media.
Many people got lost in the idea of having 10,000 followers and forgot about their content completely.
Their ultimate goal was to have followers, but that’s not the case.
Ok, so what changed?
All social media platforms are now interest-based.
What does this mean, you might ask?
This means that it doesn’t matter how many followers you have.
What matters is the content that you are putting out.
You can literally compete with an account that has 10 million followers if your content is excellent.
Social media feeds have switched from followers to interest, and that’s why you are not seeing posts from your favorite account that you followed years ago.
It’s because your interests have changed, and the algorithms noticed that.
Now the question is, how can you reverse-engineer this to your advantage?
Think about your audience and the content that you are making for them.
If someone is interested in your business, they will engage with your posts, and they will follow you.
However, many businesses are struggling to create good content because nobody wants to follow an account that only advertises services or products.
Look at how successful real estate agents are dominating social media with all sorts of winning content.
They do neighborhood tours, property tours, real estate tips for buyers and sellers, talk about real estate market updates, and so on.
This is the type of content that will attract followers, and most importantly, it will attract the right kind of followers, ones that will turn into clients because they will get to know you.
Imagine if a locksmith just posted about their service and said, “Call me if you need help.”
This would never work.
But what if you could offer some tips via video?
How to keep your home safe, what the best locks are, how to fix simple things by yourself, and many other ideas you can try.
This is offering real value to your audience, and they will choose you next time they need your product or service.
Followers don’t matter.
Your content is the fuel for your business.
I’ve seen plenty of businesses with thousands of followers and zero engagement, and trust me, you don’t want to be in that position.
Rethink your content strategy, and you will win.

What Is LTV?
LTV stands for the lifetime value of a customer.
This is a very important metric because it helps you understand how much a customer is worth to a business over the entire time they keep buying from it.
LTV is also great for understanding your advertising costs better.
You might be thinking, Hey, I’m spending $100 to acquire a customer, but that customer, over time, can bring me $1,000.
Would you still pay $100 to get that customer? Of course, you would.
Good to know:
Instagram: Are you worried about posting longer videos on Instagram?
Adam Mosseri confirmed that the algorithm doesn’t take into consideration just the percentage watched of a video, but it looks at how many seconds it was watched as well.
This means that 10 seconds watched on a longer video can be the same as watching 10 seconds on a shorter video.
You should make your videos as long as needed to deliver your message.
