Study Your Competition and Win
No More Guesswork
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes and 6 seconds
Hey friends, hope you are all having an amazing week so far!
Have you ever wondered how to get better at your overall social media and digital marketing?
Worry no more because I have a quick plan for you.
Let’s dive in.
The businesses that are winning online are the ones that have a proper strategy and study their competitors consistently.
Why?
Because you can find out what’s working on their channels as well, without actually needing to run the test yourself.
Sure, the audiences can be different, but as long as you are offering similar products/services, you should be fine, and the learning can be applied to your business as well.
Ok, so how do you actually do this in an easy way?
Allocate one hour per month to study your competition across all their platforms.
Yes, just one hour is needed, and this simple strategy can increase your social media presence.
This is very important stuff, so please allocate one hour this month and try it.
Ok, so how do you do this?
Create a simple spreadsheet with all your competitors.
Make it simple, with columns like Competitor Name, Instagram Link, Facebook Link, etc.
Now, go to their social media profiles, look back at the last 30 days, and find their top-performing posts on each platform.
What are those posts about? Are they product/service posts, or do they talk about something else?
What kind of comments are they getting on those posts?
Select the top three posts from each platform and add them to your spreadsheet.
Now, you have content ideas for your next social media calendar.
Can you replicate what they did without copying everything?
You can get plenty of ideas just by studying your competition and understanding what is working in the market and with your audience.
Basically, no more guesswork.
I’ve applied this method to many clients, and the results have been insane.
This can be replicated for YouTube channels, advertising campaigns, and so on.
Try it and let me know how it goes.
Digital Marketing Simplified
80% of your content should educate, entertain, or inspire, while only 20% should promote your business.
Why?
People engage more with brands that provide value rather than just selling.
Good to know:
TikTok: longer videos are getting more traction on the platform. Keep this in mind if you are used to creating short-form content.
Meta: Community Notes will be launched across Facebook and Instagram. It will work similarly to how they function on X.
WhatsApp: new limits will be introduced for broadcast messages to reduce spam and improve the user experience.
