Own your digital assets

It’s the only way

Hey friends, hope everyone is doing well and you are getting some rest this weekend.

Today, I want to give a quick example of what could happen if you don’t own your digital assets.

It’s good advice that could help you a lot.

Let’s dive in.

A friend of mine has a Google Ads agency and we know each other because… surprise, I manage Google Ads for clients as well.

Long story short, they were about to onboard a new client but the previous agency didn’t want to give them access to Google Tag Manager because it was their own account!

What?

Imagine spending thousands on having a conversion tracking setup and in the end you don’t own anything because it was set up on a different account.

The same goes for other types of ad accounts on Meta, Google, TikTok, you name it…

You should never run your business through someone else's account.

Want to run ads on Google?

Have your own Google Ads account, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager, and then you can give access to whoever works with you and they can manage your OWN digital assets.

Same goes for other platforms.

I had a few situations in which business owners were rushing to set things up and said “Alex, you do it quickly because you know what’s best.”

Yes, I do, but the best thing is that you have to own everything so we have to set everything in your name, email, phone number, etc.

Don’t make this mistake and trust anyone because you will invest a lot of money in your online data such as past sales, social media profiles, website traffic, and so many other things.

You don’t want to lose any of this.

Digital Marketing Simplified

How to choose the best social media platform for your business?

This is a tricky one to be honest, but you first have to think of the age demographics and what your target audience likes.

However, the simple thing to do is to use the most popular platforms and build based on that.

Important: you don’t need to be active on all platforms, just focus on a few and build your audience there and everything will fall into place.

So which ones are the best choices?

My top five:

Instagram (just reached 3 billion active users!)

Facebook

YouTube

WhatsApp

Google Business Profile

Bonus: TikTok

You don’t need anything else, especially when you are starting (unless you know for sure that your audience hangs out on Pinterest).

Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok – use these for social media content

YouTube – quality content in long form video format, also use Reels/TikToks as YouTube Shorts.

WhatsApp – offer amazing customer support

Google Business – super important but ignored by a lot of people. You want to ask your customers to give you reviews here and be active with posts as well. You will get a lot of organic traffic because of this.

Good to know:

  • Instagram has reached 3 billion active users. It is officially the biggest social media platform in the world.

  • Meta has launched a custom feed of AI-generated videos in the Meta AI app.

  • WhatsApp will soon allow users to add their Facebook profile link to their WhatsApp profile.
