đź‘€ How to make people read your posts online

And how to capture their attention

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes and 47 seconds

Hello everyone! This week, we will focus on creating social media posts that actually capture attention and stop the scroll in social media feeds.

In order to make people stop the scroll and read your posts, we need to do a few simple things.

Let’s dive in.

When you are posting content online, you are competing with a lot of other people for that small space in social media feeds, and this makes us create strategies to actually make people read your posts.

Sure, this doesn’t necessarily apply to product photos or videos, but this structure can be applied to these as well by understanding what people read first when you get their attention.

People think that users on social media read the caption first, and that’s wrong.

Here is how they actually read a post:

See? Everything has a flow, and there is a structure to how people read social media posts.

Let’s break it down:

The big issue here is that people create content, and they put the main point of their post at number 5, and that’s clearly not being read first.

Let’s say you have some text info that you want to place on a video or on a photo.

This information can be the main selling point of your post, and you want to make sure that this will be placed in the right position; otherwise, the post will not make sense, and your followers will continue to scroll, which means your post will get 0 engagements.

By rethinking your post structure, you can get more organic reach because this will trigger the algorithm to show your posts more.

You know why? Simple.

It’s because users actually stop the scroll and read your posts. They might even engage (like/comment/share) if the quality is there.

The goal is not to just be present and create content online; we want to make sure that we are actually making the most out of it and using the best practices to stand out from the competition.

The good news is that 99% of businesses and content creators are not using this structure, so there is A LOT of opportunity out there.

If you are the one that’s creating your social media content in your business, please create your posts with this structure in mind.

Or if you have a social media manager, forward them this email and create a test with your next content batch and compare the results over a 30-day period to see how your overall metrics will improve.

The good thing about this structure is that it can be applied to advertising as well!

Create your ads with the above structure in mind and watch how your click-through rate will improve considerably.

Good to know:

  • Threads: 200M people are actively using Threads now. Are you creating content for this platform yet? If not, you should start as soon as possible and take advantage of the organic reach.

  • WhatsApp: Google is launching a new feature which will enable users to chat directly with businesses through search ads. It will be a good idea to prepare for this and create a WhatsApp business account so customers can reach you quickly.

That’s all for today, thank you so much for being here with me!
