🤔 Is TikTok the new Google?
What does this actually mean?
Estimated reading time: 1 minutes and 34 seconds
Hey friends! Hope you are all having a great week so far!
Today we will focus on something very interesting, and that’s the new behavior when it comes to searching the web.
Are you ready?
Let’s dive in.
A new study reveals that social media is taking over as the new search, but what does this actually mean?
64% of Gen Z consumers use TikTok or Instagram for local search and discovery over traditional search engines like Google.
This is why I was advising all my clients to create searchable content the same way you would create a blog.
Your caption needs to have keywords that can trigger a search, like “hotel in Paris,” and incorporate it into your content.
Gen Z are people born between 1997 and 2012, and they show an interesting trend for the future.
However, I believe there is an even bigger trend that will take over everything really soon, and that is AI search.
ChatGPT searches (and other AI tools) have increased significantly, and again this shows why you should focus on providing a lot of value on your landing pages, social content, etc.
People can discover your business without searching on Google based on this behavior, and that’s super important.
Creating relevant content and having optimized social profiles is crucial.
Encourage your social media managers to rethink the content strategy and prepare a list of keywords that are relevant to your business and include them in your social media captions.
I strongly believe that now is the best time to get discovered using social media, but many people are doing it wrong.
Please don’t complain about reach, algorithm changes, or something else.
Focus on local search and discovery, and you will win long term.
Good to know:
Instagram is rolling out a new “profile card” feature that is essentially a digital business card for your profile.
Threads is adding “activity status” next to profile pictures, which basically allows you to see who is online.
