Is 2025 the year you will thrive online?

Let’s find out!

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes and 39 seconds

Hello everyone, I’m super happy to kick-start the new year with the first newsletter edition in 2025.

As you know, my goal here is to help each and every single one of you with practical digital marketing tips that will help you thrive online.

In order to do that, I will need a bit of help from you.

Can you reply to this email and let me know what your biggest struggle is right now and what kind of business you have?

I will expect a high volume of replies, but I will get back to every single business owner with a simple strategy that you can implement by yourself so you stop feeling lost in all this digital marketing noise.

I will also feature some ideas in future newsletters (without mentioning your business, of course) to get other business owners inspired so they can apply some of the tips as well.

It’s gonna be a fun one, and I can’t wait to hear more about your amazing business.

Let’s begin with today’s topic…hashtags.

Are hashtags still worth it in 2025?

Some people say yes, some people say no, so which is the right answer?

Allow me to clarify a few things.

There is a misconception that hashtags will help you grow and that your content will reach more people if you use them.

However, Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, confirmed that hashtags were never used for growth.

Yep, hashtags do NOT help you with reach.

You might think, okay, so what are hashtags good for?

The simple answer is that hashtags are good for categorizing your content.

Your posts can still be discovered by someone who is looking for content from particular hashtags, and you can get some extra impressions out of that, but this doesn’t mean it will help you grow in the long term.

I’ve personally managed very big Instagram accounts, and we’ve seen incredible results from the explore page, not by getting hashtag impressions.

So… the question is, should you still use them?

Yes.

Use 15 hashtags in a post? Definitely not.

Keep in mind that Instagram will rank your content better based on the captions and the information from your post/video, so it will be a better idea to focus on being more creative with these two.

And always remember.

If the content is amazing, the results will follow quite easily.

Digital Marketing Simplified

What is organic reach?

Organic reach refers to the number of unique users who see your content on social media platforms without any paid promotions.

Why does this matter?

Organic reach is limited on every single social media platform, and I’ve used this topic on “Digital Marketing Simplified” so you don’t feel discouraged that your posts are not getting as many likes or views as you would expect.

Stay motivated and have realistic expectations.

The reach is very limited, and only a few posts will get a lot of attention without any promotion (content that goes viral), and it’s totally normal for a business to not achieve that.

Good to know:

  • Meta: 93% of US mothers are active on social media, and they can be found on Facebook and Messenger. Something to keep in mind for your next ad campaign.

  • TikTok has introduced a new option to save your videos without the TikTok watermark.

Don’t forget to let me know what your biggest struggle is right now and what kind of business you have, and I will get back to you with some digital marketing tips to help your business.
